Some trial lawyers, aggressive roofers, public adjusters (PA’s) and others partially responsible for Florida having three fourths of America’s property insurance lawsuits, are quite pleased with themselves right now.

Collapse of an Evil Empire! PART XI…Making Sense of Things
Two developments regarding the Strems multi-part saga may signal that, once again, the end is near.
This article attempts to fill you in on those developments while also summarizing what is becoming a complicated series of allegations, hearings, decisions and sentences. As you read, remember, I’m not a lawyer–I’m just someone trying to make sense of things for those trying to do the same.

Rytech…A Message for Agents!
While the force of the storm and its’ exact path are both unpredictable, Elsa is already impacting parts of Florida. Yesterday it hit parts of the Florida Keys and is now beginning a slow crawl up Florida’s west coast.
Keep in mind, resources for every vendor and carrier will be strained, creating delays, confusion and all of the usual challenges stemming from a significant storm. For this and other storms that may follow this Hurricane Season, patience in the face of immense challenge is always a virtue—so, too, is relying on a water firm you can trust.
The Nick of Time…
On Friday (yesterday at this writing) April 30, 2021 at 2:27 P.M. the very last bill to be taken up by Florida’s House of Representatives was passed and forwarded to Governor DeSantis for his signature. That bill was a materially amended, but none the less meaningful, version of SB-76 sponsored by Senators Jim Boyd and Jeff Brandes.
Lawmakers also passed meaningful property reforms in SB-1598 dealing with Public Adjusters.
Florida ATTORNEY FEE’S are a…
NOTE: This is Part III in the series dealing with fraud in Florida’s Property Market. Lawmakers should consider this post carefully.
In an article by Peter Schorsch, and According to data from Florida’s Department of Financial Services’ Service of Process website, it is precisely stated and unrefuted that…
“…for the months of January through March 2021, 22 lawyers and three administrative assistants filed over 200 lawsuits each. Fifteen filed more than 300 each. Eight filed over 400 lawsuits each. And two, Weisser and Lopez, filed over 1,000 each. In three months.”
PLAYING THE INSURANCE GAME IS…
Perhaps not enough but, I’ve frequently said that too many Florida homeowners are not as victimized as they profess to be. Far from being duped by those promising free roofs, remodeled kitchens, or an undeserved payday they are, too often, knowing participants in a dishonest marketing scam many call… “The Insurance Game!”
As the lawsuits pile up, property insurance rates increase.
Rarely do I post articles from other sites verbatim, but…the following arrived on the heels of my own post regarding property insurance lawsuits (and those who file them) creating the need to break with that tradition.
Sent to me by Floridians for Tort Reform it’s a Florida Politics article by Peter Schorsch (See Note # 1 below) reproduced here with permission. It’s a dart to the heart of Florida’s property insurance rate increases and another spirited refutation of false allegations made by Senator Gary Farmer who says “This crisis is manufactured plain and simple” and trial lawyer Chip Merlin, who says laws can’t lower rates. (See “Let’s Start with a Question“).
When you’re finished reading please contact your elected member of Florida’s House of Representatives using the link below and request that he or she implement the Texas style Tort Reforms recommended by Insurance Commissioner Altmaier and proposed in SB-76. (See Note #2 below)
Now… read and weep for our property insurance market.

Let’s Start with a Question…
Before I tell you about the most damning information so far regarding the outright assault on Florida’s Homeowners system by a few dozen trial lawyers, you should first know the progress being made to stop them.
Via a bi-partisan (27-13) vote, Florida’s Senate recently approved the solution, SB-76. You can hear the debate on the Florida Channel by moving to the 3 hours & 7 minute mark. It’s quite illuminating and for many of you parts of it will be distressing.
Uninsured Motorists Coverage is Critical!
NOTE: The following article by JS contributor, David Thompson, CPCU, AAI, API, CRIS, should be read by every Florida driver and certainly by every Florida insurance agent. David was asked, in his opinion, what coverage was the most critical for any driver to purchase.
This was his answer! [Read more…] about Uninsured Motorists Coverage is Critical!
